------------------ Canon's statement ------------------- Canon has been a member of the W3C SVG WG since 1990 and contributed to the development of the SVG core specification, as well as to various SVG enhancements, including SVG Print, SVG Compositing, SVG Filters, and SVG Transforms. Our main focus on using Web technologies is to make Canon digital devices "Cloud Service Ready" so that device functions and applications can be enhanced with the help of We based services. We believe SVG and HTML5 technologies play a very important role on the device side as a means to provide rich interactive user interfaces to cloud services. Another important area for device Web applications include a technology to allow Web application access to and good use of device specific features. There is an activity within W3C called Device APIs and Policy WG, but the current targeted of the WG is mostly limited to smart phones. We would like to see similar technologies developed also for a wide range of digital devices in mind including digital TV, digital cameras, video cameras, and printers.
