This page attempts to understand the official status of MPEG-21 Part 17 - Fragment Identification with respect to standardisation, and its actual implementation / uptake.

- Cyril Concolato, leader of the GPAC project argues that the ISO Part 17 defines a scheme for fragment identifiers to be used with a any resource of Internet Media Type is one of audio/mpeg, video/mpeg, video/mp4, audio/mp4 and application/mp4. However, these RFCs do not point back to the ISO document
