What happens when you merge two OWL ontologies? In OWL DL(1.0) you are not guaranteed that the result is an OWL DL ontology. Jeremy Carroll suggests that there are are manageable and unmanageable merge problems of this sort, and that n-ary datatypes are of the worse sort.
