I'm a Member of Technical Staff at Bell Labs Research, just returned from a sabbatical at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

I was heavily involved in the W3C Web Ontology working group. I authored and edited most of the OWL S&AS document that provides the basic syntax and semantics for OWL. I also was a vocal critic of versions of the RDF Semantics document and several of the other documents that came out of the RDF Core working group. I'm a co-author of the SWRL documents. I'm also a co-author of several of the OWL 1.1 documents.

I've been a member of the Description Logic community since before it was called Description Logics. (I even helped coin some of the names for Description Logics.) I've built or helped build several reasoning systems for Description Logics, including CLASSIC and DLP.

As a member of this working group I'm hoping to keep the revision of OWL less complex than the initial version. I expect to be contributing heavily to the syntax and semantic design of the OWL revision. I'm also interested in how OWL will relate to the RIF.
