Web Design Industry and Standards
- Designers/developers using standards properly are still a small minority
- CSS 2.1 is still in status of "last call" working draft
- Is WCAG2 useful? When will it be available?
- Interesting things are happening outside the W3C (ex. WHATWG, microformats, etc.)
Concerns about the W3C activities
- A long time to develop a new specification
- Lack of cooperation with the industry and hearing voices from actual designers/developers
- Language barrier and time difference
Hopes for the future of W3C
- Closer collaboration with the industry including browser vendors
- More effective way of collecting ideas and quicker recommendation process
- More active outreach
