There is not a way to start or stop refreshing a page (except for features built in the HTTP client), for this reason, if you think that automatic refreshes are needed for your service, always provide a way to the user to stop and start refreshes. This is achieved using two different pages or, if you have a dynamic site, adding or removing refresh tags on the server side.
