Chart could be a nice addition for the report

This exposition is really useful, particularly the level distinctions. Ideally, this info would also be presented in a graphical format:

Level 1-5 is generally the realm of collection-level description. Level 6-7 is the realm of item-level description. Level 6 is often split in practice into separate manifestation and item levels. Level 8 is the realm of analytic description. Level 9-10 is the realm of citation description. The generic relationship between levels is has-part/is-part-of.

Are there digital collection issues, too?

"The user task Obtain (from Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records) is primarily supported by level 6 (Manifestation/item) metadata, but this rarely includes information about the location and opening hours of the building where a physical item is stored."

Does level 6 typically include equivalent info (e.g. access restrictions) for digital materials? If not, that's worth mentioning here. Jodi Schneider 05:08, 24 January 2011 (UTC)

Practice varies, I think. There may be a generic note saying that access restrictions apply, without detailing them (because a link resolver service does that at point of request; there may be a note saying that an e-journal is part of a subscription package; there may be just the URL, with restrictions only mentioned on the target webpage; etc. So I agree it's worth mentioning. --Gordon Dunsire 11:13, 27 January 2011 (UTC)
