- OWL refines the usage of RDF by:
- defining the terminology used in a specific context (ontologies)
- imposing constraints on properties
- e.g., cardinality constraints
- characterizing the logical characteristics of properties
- e.g., transitivity, functionality
- defining the equivalence of terms across ontologies
- etc.
