At Friday's meeting, EOWG discussed a proposal to directly include accessibility checking bookmarklets directly in the revised Easy Checks. Please review the Easy Checks section of the minutes and comment below.
As well, if you have additional suggestions for another approach, please include those in the space provided. Thanks.

It sounds like: * lots of positives to providing bookmarklets * some people still might not be able to use the bookmarklets I'm leaning towards providing bookmarklets as one option (probably presenting it as the suggested option), leaving other options, and adding simple filters so people can get the instructions that apply to them and the other options are not cluttering it (especially for IE WAT - which seems to make it seem outdated to some readers, yet is important for a small number of users). |

I am in favour of creating tools that automate easy checks, but am worried with the perceived security concerns raised by bookmarklets. I would vote for the development of browser extensions instead, that would do a similar thing. |
Laura Keen |
|
My only concern would be providing a resource that could potentially be unavailable for people/organizations who block them due to security restraints. Having said that I'm currently on the Library of Congress' network and Paul Adam's bookmarklets http://pauljadam.com/bookmarklets/ are working for me. So I'm not sure how much of an issue it could be - just adding that they are working on the LOC internal network. |

Some people in last Friday's meeting mentioned the fact that if we finally support bookmarklets we might have a significant impact on the audience that we are addressing since most of them might be prevented to use such bookmarklets due to the seccurity constrains within their organization. I very much agree on this view. |

I appreciate Denis' feedback regarding security and bookmarklets - I feel that we can ease the minds of people by verify these resources. |
Brent Bakken |

If some cannot download bookmarklets because of company security policies, it should not stop us from developing and providing them for those who can. |

Shawn Lawton Henry | I added new "Accessibility Insights" -- although I haven't looked at it enough yet to see if it is a good tool for Easy Checks and if so how we would integrate instructions for it... |
Denis Boudreau | I think just beginning with the elements covered in Easy Checks would be a great enough start. We can always come back to other ideas later. |
Laura Keen | |
Vicki Menezes Miller | |
Stéphane Deschamps | |
Daniel Montalvo | This would possibly lead to further work and writing on easy Checks but I do think there might be the possibility to add I pretty much agree with what was said, I personally relied very much on the Wave extension when I needed to perform audits. |
Lewis Phillips | |
Chris O'Brien | |
Brent Bakken | None at this time, but if I come across some in the future I will add them as ideas. |

Denis Boudreau | Here's a bit of an ARRM update, as it was sent to Brent by email yesterday. Following the face to face, we gave a shot at revisiting the decision tree, and we've completely flipped it on its head, for the better: https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/Role-Based_Decision_Tree. It's now a 7-step process, that we feel is much more robust. We've also looped in Lewis, who has since joined us on the core team. We've been reviewing more task points together, and added a new content type to our list (css presentations): https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/Accessibility_Checkpoint_Master_List#CSS_Presentation. We're in the process or finalizing our common appreciation of the distribution, and we're making good steady progress. Finally, I've updated the project page, so that our deliverables better reflect what we've accomplished in 2018, and what we've been up to in 2019 so far: https://www.w3.org/WAI/EO/wiki/ARRM_Project_-_Accessibility_Roles_and_Responsibilities_Mapping#Time_Line_.28Revised_as_of_2019.2F03.2F21.29. That's what comes to mind for now. We are meeting again this coming Thursday, so more progress to come.., :) |
