7. XMLP Future work

Mikem: several people presented ideas at last telcon
... XMLP WG would like to hear reqs from WSD WG to scope the work.
... waiting for WSD concrete proposal.
... MarkN said that TF worried about 3 WG involved.
... MarkN One-Way binding from DaveO may not be final draft -> not currently able to propose concrete work for XMLP

Noah: Summary: do some work in field of MEP and/or bindings refinements.
... Summary (ctned) Need crisper description.
... recharter? Response: probably not, but change patent policy.
... Must not underestimate the impact of changing patent policy.

<anish> yves I *think* responded by saying that if there is a new deliverable then we need to go to a new PP, if there is no deliverable then we don't need the PP

Noah: If go to new PP, several kind of work:
... - new MEP, ...
... - fixing bugs: also under new PP?
... Changing PP: May generate a huge amount of work.

<anish> see yves response -- http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Member/w3c-xml-protocol-wg/2005Mar/0045.html

Noah: a - Check amount of work.
... b - Verify on what it will apply.

Yves: WG Notes: no need to move to new PP.
... For new Recs, needed.
... for second question, Rec will stay under the same PP, even if we fix some bugs.

Noah: Question about the packaging: add new meps to new version of SOAP.
... or create new Docs.

Yves: response is that first packaging under discussion in W3C.

Noah: Must be sure about Legal overhead for creating new MEP.
... would not like having too much Legal overhead for creating a new MEP.
... think that MEP should be a REC not a Note, to have it normative.

No other comments on future work.

Mikem: waiting comments from Asych. And must look at Noah's concerns and weigh overhead against benefit.

5. Status reports
XMLP/WSD Task Force - joint deliverable 'Describing Media Content of Binary Data in XML'
Mikem: XMLP has produced comments on XMLP/WSD TF Media Content. These were provided by Sun.

Anish: comments should be discussed tomorrow or next telcon.
... comment: spec allow wildcard in expected content-type. May be interpretation problems for wildcards.
... LC stage is over. Plan: process those comments and publish the note.

Mikem: Jonnathan asked to have a dual publishing on document by both XMLP and WSD.
... After discussing with Yves, I think this is not the correct W3C approach.
... Only 1 WG publishes a joint document. This document should however contain appropriate citation of the contributions from any other WGs. 'Describing Media Content of Binary Data in XML' does sufficiently credit XMLP and acknowledge XMLP members who contributed.

Yves: All documents done by several WG are published by one of them and acknowledged by the others.

<Yves> ACTION: Yves to update the home page to link to binary document [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2005/03/30-xmlprotocol-minutes.html#action01]

6. PER

Mikem: Yves made more progress, mostly editing the primer.
... Most comments from Nilo were about document generation.

Yves: all broken links will be fixed when docs are in place. Other comments from Nilo are fixed.

Mikem: Tables almost done. Is there a W3C target document size eg A4 or 8.5x11?

Yves: There is no target printed version.
... both in A4 or 8.5x11, nothing is lost, everything is readable.
... depends on printer and way of printing.

Mikem: seems documents are ready.
Mikem: propose to publish those documents.

No objections. Documents will be published

<Yves> ACTION: Yves to request publication of PER documents [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2005/03/30-xmlprotocol-minutes.html#action02]

Yves: publication requires telcon with director.
... publication process will start this week.

8. MTOM rec issues.

- 28rec issue

Herve: just a broken link. Need an errata?

<Yves> ACTION: Yves to handle 28rec [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2005/03/30-xmlprotocol-minutes.html#action03]

Yves: yes. Take ownership of that and update errata page.

- 29rec issue

Mikem: about normativeness of 4.3.3.

Yves: think it was already discussed and the decision was that it was only an example. So this is not normative and there is no point to the issue.

Anish: does spec state it is non-normative?

Yves: think the spec is clear. Just respond to commentator and close issue with no action.

<Yves> ACTION: Yves to close issue 29rec with no action (and send closing email) [recorded in http://www.w3.org/2005/03/30-xmlprotocol-minutes.html#action04]

Mikem: 29rec closed with no action.

9. AOB

None.

Mikem: until new events will go to hibernation mode.
