This page is intended to document what is needed to move from the October 2005 Process to the May 2014 Process, assuming that the AC approves adopting the new process.

These are very preliminary suggested answers, and may not reflect consensus or may be incorrect

When will the new process be effective?

There will be a certain amount of work required to enable the W3C systems to work with the new process.

Following that, the process will be taken up by new groups when they are announced. The transition plan allows for some groups to move immediately, and others to switch over more slowly.

When will existing groups rechartering move to the new process?

What happens to patent exclusion opportunities?

No real change. The proposed process adds stronger recommendation that documents not be moved through the process if there is an open exclusion,
