Jacques Bourhis is leading the Intel OTC software development team in France with particular focus on Open Source, Linux and Android for embedded systems. We will have a thirty minute slot at the plenary session. Dave will give a brief introduction to the panelists, and to set the scene with an explanation of the Web of Things, and questions for the panelists, and then ask each panelist to take 3 minutes each to present their views before opening the floor to further questions.

Some points for panelists to consider:

  • The role of Web technologies for providing services based upon the Internet of Things and what is needed to enable an open market of services
  • What areas of W3C are relevant?
  • What use cases for the Web of Things that you see in the next few years, e.g. home automation, healthcare, smart cities, ...
  • What are the obstacles to connecting with devices and integrating with Internet/Web stack?
  • What areas of W3C work are most relevant to you? Or what's missing from our agenda?
  • What standards efforts in other orgs do you think we need to be aware of?

You are welcome to raise other questions.

I also plan to use the panel to draw attention to the workshop we're planning for mid 2014, and the Web of Things Community Group.

p.s. the plan is to organize some teleconferences for the Community Group to get things moving, and to help with organizing the workshop. I expect to organize the first such call after TPAC.
