ARIA Example Test Results for Reference 9: HTML Tree (Test 1)

  6. Browser Plugins (such as MozzIE, FAE, etc.): Accessibar 0.7.7
  7. System Specifications:
    • Operating System (version & build/patches): Microsoft Windows XP Professional (Version 2002) Service Pack 2
    • Processor/CPU Speed: Intel Pentium 4/3.20GHz
    • RAM: 2GB

Results

  • A) the sample document would not work with JAWS' virtual cursor turned on (default setting when using a browser)
  • B) using the INSERT + Z keystroke to turn the virtual cursor off, the prefatory text was correctly and fully read
  • C) it was not possible to access the tree widget with the virtual cursor turned off; once the widget received focus, JAWS would only announce: "ReadOnly Tree"; turning the virtual curson back on allowed me to enter into the widget (JAWS reported that it was in forms mode when in the widget), and i was able to correctly cycle through and expand/collapse items;
pressing "G" cycled through: "Green", "Green Beans", "Grapes" and "Guava"
  • A) nodes in the tree which are expandable were reported as either "open" or "closed" and using the LeftArrow closing the node and RightArrow exposing its subtree
