Agenda

  • User interface - All

Minutes

Attendees: Jun, Matthias, EricM, Danica, Bosse, Anja, Susie

Susie gave outline of work done within the group to date.

Susie describes need for interface for the application that is being developed. Discusses potential need for a physician interface and a pharma discovery interface. Goal is to use a basic interface to demonstrate the utility of the ontology for the JBI paper, e.g. Pubby or Anja's Top Questions interface. In the paper, we should also include design principals and useful interface paradigms given our use case. Moving forward, we can then spend more time on a strong interface.

Jun describes her approach to developing interfaces. This involves carefully understanding the needs of users through detailed questions. Also close collaboration with users on the interface.

EricM introduces himself, and describes the interface focused company that he works for. Explains interest in working in a collaborative group.

Danica provides a brief introduction to her natural language interface (http://www.gate.ac.uk/freya/).

Susie proposes a good place to start would be to list interface paradigms and available tools on the wiki. Explains this would enable interface selection based upon best navigational paradigm for question, and available interfaces that support the paradigm.
