Sophia Antipolis is north to Antibes located between Cannes and Nice on the
french riviera. The nearest Airport is NICE COTE D'AZUR (about 25
kilometers), which is an international airport.
General information on transport
-
Car Rental:
Major companies are represented at the Airport. This is the best way to move
around, especially if you plan to do some sight seeing.
-
Taxis:
Taxi fares are generally quite high. To go from the airport to Sophia Antipolis
or Antibes it will cost you about 300 FF. To from Antibes to Sophia Antipolis
it will cost you about 130 FF.
-
Public Transportation:
Generally speaking public transportation on the french riviera is really
poor and is not recommended It is especially bad to go inland, which is the
case for Sophia Antipolis. Trains are good if you simply need to travel along
the coast, including to go to Cannes, Antibes, Nice, Monaco... The following
sections include some directions on how to get where you want using public
transportation though. INRIA will provide a bus service from the hotels to
INRIA every day of the meeting.
Going from the airport to Antibes (to the hotel)
-
By Car:
Going to Antibes from the airport is very straight forward and will take
about 15mns. You'll be driving toward the west. Unless you're in a hurry
I can only suggest you to take the "route du bord de mer" which is RN 98.
Alternatively you can easily get onto the "autoroute" (turnpike) A8, direction
Marseille/Aix, it has an exit to Antibes. It will cost about 7 FF.
-
Public transportation:
From the international terminal, there is a bus every thirty minutes until
9pm.

-

connecting to the national terminal. There, you will find the only one bus

As you probably know the french riviera is a very nice and beautiful place
to visit. About everything is made for tourism so you won't have any difficulties
to gather information about where to go and what to do but browsing the
Riviera
Magazine site is surely a nice way to get an idea of what's waiting for
you!
