note that XSL-FO considers vertical-align to be a shorthand property that
maps to value sets of { alignment-baseline, alignment-adjust,
baseline-shift, dominant-baseline } properties; my point is: there is not a
simple relationship between vertical-align and baseline-shift that would
suggest substituting the former for the latter;
