To simplify the model without losing expressivity...

The distinction of pointing to, e.g., a Generation or a Usage would be known by the rdf:type of the object referenced by prov:qualified.

prov:qualified's range would be prov:Involvement.

This is based on the email discussions of the weekend.

This request does not claim to provide a full argument, but is captured here as an ISSUE.
