RE: ISSUE-2367 (copy-paste): Specify how SVG graphics and text are copy/pasted [SVG 2]

Why is this something that needs to be standardized, as opposed to something that is application/implementation-centric?

You can't know every type of application and how they will use the various elements contained inside the SVG. And some applications give users choices (eg. "Paste Special") about how data should be transferred.

I assume there is some "back story" to this particular request...Care to share?

ISSUE-2367 (copy-paste): Specify how SVG graphics and text are copy/pasted [SVG 2]

On product: SVG 2

We need to specify how SVG graphics and text are copy/pasted in the clipboard, etc.

Ideally, SVG would be pasted as SVG code in supporting applications, as textcontent or markup for text editors, and as a rasterized image for non-SVG image editors.
