I think Workers Union is a fine choice.

But that blurb is...kind of bloodless.

You could take a different tact:

"A Workers Union (aka...) is a legally recognized organization that
promotes the interests of its worker members by collectively bargaining
with management, organizing, and political lobbying."

That's succinct but also specific and captures the main activities of
unions. Many organizations "band together to achieve common goals"...that's
not specific enough to describe the purpose of unions.
