Yes, that is the purpose of this API.

The API is under development in Chromium. There is currently no timeline
for a stable release.

The specification is available for all browsers to implement. Currently
only Chromium has expressed interest in implementing.

The API is available in Chrome 79.0.3916.3 and later (installing

the chrome://flags/#enable-experimental-web-platform-features flag is
enabled.
