Hmmm, while I still think it originally arose also from the syntactic ambiguity 
with DELETE FROM which is no longer there, after some research, I guess you're right, 
I just checked and DELETE FROM disappeared before we had this discussion in detail. 

Anyways, as mentioned

2)
As for NAMED vs. ALL NAMED, the same applies, I can live with it, so if no one else 
finds it ambiguous, ok to stick with NAMED alone here.
