RE: Proposed adaptive image element

Thank you for this proposal from the RICG. The Chairs are glad to see that this item is already being discussed on the public-html@w3.org<mailto:public-html@w3.org> email list.

FTR, can you tell us if the proposal you linked to has been published by the RICG as a Final Specification as per http://www.w3.org/community/about/faq/#reports and if any CG members (or non-members) have made commitments under the Final Specification Agreement (FSA)? If not does the RICG plan to do this?

Subject: Proposed adaptive image element

Chairs and members of the HTML WG,

I've posted a proposal for an adaptive image element to a W3C wiki here:
http://www.w3.org/community/respimg/wiki/Picture_Element_Proposal

I've also summed-up some of the background and reasoning behind this proposal in a post on the RICG, which may be well worth a read:
http://www.w3.org/community/respimg/2012/06/18/florians-compromise/

It's heartening to see the rapid action being taken by the W3C. Please don't hesitate to let me know if anyone should have questions, comments, or concerns - I'm more than happy to discuss things further.

Thank you for your consideration,

Mat Marquis
