RE: ACTION-228 - Produce a list of the bugs relating to the alt guidance changes [on Steve Faulkner - due 2014-02-06]

Thanks for the update, Steve.

I believe with this information the A11Y TF can now decide if they are willing to declare the work on the Alt Guidance specification [1] to be done and if they agree that there is no need to do further work on the Working Draft. If the TF agrees then I recommend that the TF ask the WG to discontinue work on the WD by publishing the content as a WG Note with an appropriate SOTD to indicate how the problems identified in the original WD were dealt with.

I believe that completion of this work and its integration of the changes into HTML 5.0 will result in the successful execution of the following item from 'plan 2014' [2]:

Responsibility for the HTML5: Techniques for providing useful text alternatives<http://dev.w3.org/html5/alt-techniques/> document will remain in the HTML WG. The A11y TF and the editor of the alt-techniques document are encouraged to work directly with the editors of the HTML5 document to reduce identified differences<http://www.davidmacd.com/WCAG/WAI/buggy.html>, filing new bug reports as appropriate. We will revisit the responsibility of the document after the differences have been resolved to the extent possible.

Can we please get a written report on where we stand on the status with the Alt Guidance work and discuss the status of this work on the A11Y TF teleconference this week?

The Chairs are encouraging the HTML5 editors to close out all outstanding CR bugs by March 15.

As per our discussion today on the A11Y TF teleconference today could you give us an update on your work on the "Open" and "FIXED in HTML 5.1" bugs listed below? In particular the Chairs are interested in knowing when all the work on the alt guidance changes will be completed in HTML 5.0?

If this is the entire list then we are very close to being able to finish the work on moving the content of the "alt techniques" WD [1] to HTML 5.

I have split this bug list into those bugs that are a) Open, b) FIXED in HTML 5.1 and c) FIXED in HTML 5.0.

Steve: Can you check the "Fixed in HTML 5.1" category to ensure that I have these items correct? For this list I believe we need to decide which of these items need to be moved to HTML 5.0.
