I agree with this. The current situation is extremely confusing for authors. There are two technologies that do basically the same thing, and it's not clear whether both are going to exist in the long term. This leaves both in an uncertain position and makes me, at least, very reluctant to use either. IMO, the Working Group should decide on one of the two and move on. Either deprecate RDFa in favor of microdata, or ditch microdata and promote RDFa to the main spec. I favor microdata, but I would much prefer that microdata be dropped and (some version of) RDFa be in the main spec than that both exist indefinitely in parallel. If anyone would *ideally* like to see both developed equally in separate specs rather than one or the other deprecated or dropped, could they please say so? I get the impression that most people here would really prefer that one or the other be the only spec around. If my impression is right, then working on both (in whatever format) is a poor compromise.
