I agree we need to change teh definitition of usage time, but I am not 
sure the rephrasing you suggest is clearer. What does the "the time at 
which the entity started to be used" refers to? Perhaps, we can use 
instead something like

  time: an optional "usage time" t, the time at which the entity was accessed by the activity;

Or something in these lines.
