Olivier is right, there is indeed not really a CSS validator team 
anymore and i apologize for the delay in the response. We do try to 
maintain it but there won't be any new functionnality anytime soon. That 
said, several people in the W3C team agree with your position and if you 
come up with a patch we'll be happy to review it and to start a 
discussion here with the reluctant ones and the community.
