Device Status Task Force

Dear all,

during the rechartering process, several people provided the feedback that they felt that too many different topics were discussed in this group on a single list when they thought that they would be more easily able to contribute if the discussion were split over several lists, in the form of Task Forces (as defined in the Process).

As a result we are announcing our first TF: the Device Status TF. It is currently tasked with producing the Battery Status Event API and the Network Information API.

If you are a member of this WG and interested in these topics, you are invited to add yourself to the TF using the following form: http://www.w3.org/2000/09/dbwg/edit-group?group=49737.

If you are *not* a member of the DAP WG but wish to contribute, the door is wide open: send the usual email to public-device-status-request@w3.org. The archives are at http://lists.w3.org/Archives/Public/public-device-status/, and the mailing list itself is public-device-status@w3.org.

The Task Force is briefly documented on the group's page at: http://www.w3.org/2009/dap/#devicestatus.

Note that Mozilla (copied) is expected to join this Task Force (but not the group). In order to do so, they have signed the RF commitment, as can be seen on http://www.w3.org/2004/01/pp-impl/43696/showCommitments.

Please use the new TF to discuss these topics and the related drafts. We will be updating the latter to point to the new feedback mailing list.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks!
