Shane in the minutes: "We always meant to support these attributes in 
XHTML2. It's simple to implement." You might still have concluded the 
same way, but were you aware that Microdata in this detail currently 
fulfills XHTML2 better than XHTML+RDFa? Citing Microdata: [*]
