Q example in section 9.2.2

I'm reporting an error in the example section of 9.2.2. Under the
heading `Rendering quotations' there is the following text (quoted as
rendered):
>The following example illustrates nested quotations with the Q element.
>
>John said, I saw Lucy at lunch, she says
>Mary wants you
>to get some ice cream on your way home. I think I will get
>some at Ben and Jerry's, on Gloucester Road.
>
>Since the language of both quotations is English, user agents should render
>them appropriately, for example with single quote marks around the inner
>quotation and double quote marks around the outer quotation:
>
> John said, "I saw Lucy at lunch, she told me 'Mary wants you
> to get some ice cream on your way home.' I think I will get some
> at Ben and Jerry's, on Gloucester Road."

The quotation style referred to is particular to the US English dialect
not, as is claimed, (British) English. The examples in the subsection of
7.4.4 labelled `META and search engines' make it clear (to me at least)
that lang="en" and lang="en-us" are different.
The quotation marks in British English are single quote marks around the
outer quotation and double quote marks around the first inner quotation.
If you are not willing to accept my authority I will gladly supply you with
citations to reference texts.
Thanks for your attention to this matter. Best wishes,
