This is the registration procedure from experience:
- First you have to publish the draft on the ietf-types@iana.org email list in the format as below.
- Some comments may come up there. They could be incorporated or not.
- Then you issue it as formal application by the web form on the IANA web site
- Then you wait for a response from their review team – about 1 month
- If the review team raises issue you have to act on that: either providing arguments why you are right or to adapt it to the comments from the review team.
- Then you return the revised version (by email, no need for using the form again)
- Then you keep your fingers crossed
- Finally – about 1 month later - you should get a confirmation from IANA – and the MIME Type is registered on their website.
