Call for Participation in Remote DOM Community Group

The Remote DOM Community Group has been launched:

Similarly to how the Shadow DOM paved the way for custom elements using web technologies, a “Remote DOM” could allow display of portions of the web app to be displayed on “remote” (i.e. “external”) devices, such as screens, Smart TVs, etc.

This brings interesting capabilities to web apps, such as leveraging external screens for presentation, supplemental content or second screen experiences.

In order to join the group, you will need a W3C account.

This is a community initiative. This group was originally proposed on 2013-06-09 by Martin Naumann. The following people supported its creation: Martin Naumann, Alain Couthures, Oliver Tupman, Filipe Melo, amit asthana. W3C’s hosting of this group does not imply endorsement of its activities.

If you believe that there is an issue with this group that requires the attention of the W3C staff, please send us email on site-comments@w3.org

Thank you,
W3C Community Development Team
