Proposed Second W3C eGovernment Interest Group Charter
Today W3C Advisory Committee Representatives received a Proposal to revise the eGovernment Activity (see the W3C Process Document description of Activity Proposals). This proposal includes a draft charter for the eGovernment Interest Group.
As part of ensuring that the community is aware of proposed work at W3C, this draft charter is public during the Advisory Committee review period.
W3C invites public comments through 2009-09-28 on the proposed charter. Please send comments to public-new-work@w3.org, which has a public archive.
Other than comments sent in formal responses by W3C Advisory Committee Representatives, W3C cannot guarantee a response to comments. If you work for a W3C Member, please coordinate your comments with your Advisory Committee Representative. For example, you may wish to make public comments via this list and have your Advisory Committee Representative refer to it from his or her formal review comments.

- Discussed adding gradients to css3-images. Straw poll indicates yes, there is support for this in the WG. Several people sympathized with Bert's argument argument against expanding the scope of CSS too much, but didn't object to the proposal for gradients. Hyatt and roc will draft a combined proposal. fantasai suggests simplifying the syntax.
- Resolved: Accept Bert's proposal to change the Media Queries and CSS2.1 Appendix G grammars to use a new
media_listproduction so that Media Queries can easily swap out the relevant part of CSS2.1's syntax. - Re-Resolved:
@media { ... }(no media type or query) is invalid. - Resolved: Publish updated CR draft of Media Queries with these changes.
- Discussed effect of drop-shadows on layout. No resolution, but CSS Backgrounds and Borders level 3 will include wording on both
border-imageandbox-shadownot affecting layout or triggering scrolling, and the CSS3 module covering overflow will need to discuss in detail the differences between overflow that affects layout/scrolling, and overflow that does not. - Brad Kemper added as co-editor of css3-background.

Updated tests: Web fonts
The tests of font linking and eot fonts were updated, along with the associated results pages. The number of tests was reduced to a single test per script, but test cases were created for HTML4, XHTML 1.1 and XHTML served as both text/html and XML. In addition, links to font licence information were added to the test notes. The Urdu font was also updated.
