The Semantic Web provides a common framework that allows data to be shared and reused across application, enterprise, and community boundaries. It is a collaborative effort led by W3C with participation from a large number of researchers and industrial partners. It is based on the Resource Description Framework (RDF).

W3C Incubator Group on Semantic Sensor Networks Launched

The mission of the Semantic Sensor Network Incubator Group is to begin the formal process of producing ontologies that define the capabilities of sensors and sensor networks, and to develop semantic annotations of a key language used by services based sensor networks. W3C member organizations can nominate participants using the online form. The group is chaired by Amit Parashar, CSIRO, Australia, Amit Sheth, Wright State University, USA, and Kerry Taylor, CSIRO, Australia.
