To whom it may concern:

If you are interested in a tiny DOS converter that
translates into LaTeX and into HTML, visit the
following link:

http://www.iam.rwth-aachen.de/Beta/start.html

Half a year after the release of version 2.1 of the
Converter, I got enough hints and suggestions to built
a new version of the program. As the parameters changed
slightly, I called it version 3.0.

The new version gives information about the files
being read and processed, covers all special
characters of HTML, has several formats showing the
date and time of the last modification in HTML signatures
and now supports specific control files with arbitrary
file names.

I have set up a new syntax close to HTML which I call BETA-format.
This format can be converted into LaTeX and HTML. The advantages of
this converter (BETA into TeX and into HTML) are:

- The BETA-syntax is defined in a control file that can be
easily extented and makes the conversion process transparent.

- Neither LaTeX nor HTML has priority: The special features of
  each format can be used.

- The document is maked from several files: Only changed files are
  converted.

- The converter is a usual DOS program that runs without extensions
like Perl and without support of programs like dvi2ps etc. The
conversion is done within seconds or less.

Documentation can be found here.

All the pages shown there were created as a BETA document and do exist
as a single LaTeX document as well.
