Unicode in URLs

• Better not change the syntax...
• ... but one can display them differently

Solution: display the path-part of http-URLs as if it were a UTF-8 string:

URL = http://machine/fran%C3%A7ois
display = http://machine/françois

The IETF URL and URN WGs are developing new standards for URLs and URNs.
