Submission request to W3C (W3C Team Comment)
We, W3C Member(s) BEA, CA, Cisco, EMC (Documentum), HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems hereby submit to the Consortium the following specification, comprising the following document(s) attached hereto:
which is referred to as "the Submission". We request the Submission be known as the SML Submission.
The Service Modeling Language (SML) specification is used to model complex IT services and systems, including their structure, constraints, policies, and best practices.
BEA hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any BEA copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, BEA grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. BEA further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
BMC hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any BMC copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, BMC grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. BMC further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
CA hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any CA copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, CA grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. CA further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
Cisco hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any Cisco copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, Cisco grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. Cisco further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
Dell hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any Dell copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, Dell grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. Dell further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
EMC hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any EMC copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, EMC grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. EMC further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
HP hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any HP copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, HP grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. HP further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
IBM hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any IBM copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, IBM grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. IBM further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
Intel hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any Intel copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, Intel grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. Intel further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
Microsoft hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any Microsoft copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, Microsoft grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. Microsoft further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.
Sun Microsystems hereby grants to the W3C a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any Sun Microsystems copyrights on this contribution, to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses.
Additionally, should the Submission be used as a contribution towards a W3C Activity, Sun Microsystems grants a right and license of the same scope to any derivative works prepared by the W3C and based on, or incorporating all or part of, the contribution. Sun Microsystems further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.

We suggest that the Consortium start a Working Group whose mission is to produce W3C Recommendations for Services Modeling Language by refining the Submission, addressing implementation experience and interoperability feedback from the Submission.
To help with this work, we expect to provide assistance as needed to the Consortium.
