Submission request to W3C (W3C Team Comment)
We, W3C Member IBM hereby submit to the Consortium the following specification, comprising the following document(s) attached hereto:
referred to as "the Submission". We request the Submission be known as the WSDL-S Submission.
WSDL-S defines a mechanism to annotate WSDL documents with semantic information. These semantic annotations are references to semantic concepts that define the meanings service operations and their inputs and outputs. Semantic annotations are defined by a set of WSDL extension elements and attributes and are not tied to any particular ontology representation language. WSDL-S enables the specification of Web services semantics to enable semi-automated discovery, compostion and mediation of Web services.
IBM hereby grants to the W3C, a perpetual, nonexclusive, royalty-free, world-wide right and license under any IBM copyrights in this contribution to copy, publish and distribute the contribution under the W3C document licenses. IBM further agrees that any derivative works of this contribution prepared by the W3C shall be solely owned by the W3C.

We suggest that the Consortium use the Submission as input to any pre-standarization activities that might be organized as part of the conclusions of the W3C Workshop on Frameworks for Semantics in Web Services. We support the proposal made by the W3C in its message to the Advisory Committee, Work in Progress on Semantics for Web Services (Advance Notice) and offer the Submission as input to the Working Group described in part (2) of that proposal.
To help with this work, we expect to be able to provide customary resources (pre-standarization activity participants, editors and chairs according to each submitting company's ability).
Inquiries from the public or press about this Submission should be directed to: Amit Sheth (University of Georgia), Ron Favali (IBM).
