Can a slot have a border and if so, where is it drawn?

State:
RAISED
Product:
CSS3 Template Layout
Raised by:
Bert Bos
Opened on:
2008-04-17
Description:
Can a ':slot' have a 'border' property? What is the use case?

If it can, where is the border drawn?

1) Borders collapse (like for tables) and are drawn centered on the edge of the slot (as for multi-column). Note that borders may thus overlap content. The template element itself also has a border, which doesn't collapse with the slots, because there is a padding between them.

2) Borders are drawn individually for each slot and reduce the size of the slot available for content. In that case, is there a need for the 'border-spacing' property?
