Specification Guidelines becomes a CR - seeking implementation experiences

The QA Specification Guidelines (SpecGL) has been published as a CR. The principal goal of this document is to help W3C Working Groups to write clearer, more implementable, and better testable technical reports. During the CR period, the QAWG seeks WGs willing to appply the guidelines to their specifications. By applying, we don't mean "comply", but rather to go through the SpecGL checklist and let the QAWG know what they think they already do, what they expect to do in the future, and what they don't expect to do. Additionally, any feedback regarding the implementability of the checkpoints is welcome. The QAWG would like to work with you, as you develop your specifications, in applying the SpecGL - let us know if we can be of assistance.

Benefits of the Specification Guidelines (SpecGL)

It makes sense to use SpecGL. Read more about why you should use it.The Specification Quality: Invest Now provides many of the benefits for how SpecGL can help you. For example, using SpecGL can help you reach Recommendation faster, cheaper, and with higher quality and reduced maintenace. How? By providing the collected wisdom and experience of people like you, SpecGL leads you through a series of checkpoints to help organize your document and address conformance concerns - to improve the quality of specifications, test suites, and ulitmately implementations.

Renewing the QA Activity Charter

The QA Activity is in the process of renewing its IG and WG groups. The next phase of the QA WG is largely related to the creation of tools to ensure the quality of specification and test materials; the IG will be focusing on outreach. A call for review for the renewal of the QA Activity was sent to AC Reps. If you or your organization has an interest in participating and joining the WG and/or IG or even if you don't have staff available to help the activity, it would be good to have you vote in support of it. QA benefits us all.

F2F Meeting Held and Future

The QA WG and IG held a joint face-to-face meeting on October 21-23 in Boulder, USA, discussing its future and focusing its efforts on the completion of the Test Guidelines specification. Meeting minutes. The next face-to-face meeting will be 1-2 March in Mandelieu, France during Tech Plenary.
