• Failure Techniques - documented failures to meet criteria;

Techniques Development

Accessibility Support

Support for WCAG 2.0 Techniques depends on aspects including:

• Web browsers
• Assistive technology

Issue: Essentially infinite permutations of data-sets.

Crowd-Sourcing Data?

Exploring crowd-sourcing approaches to develop data repository:

• Reuse test files from W3C Conformance Test Framework
• Provide a "home" for volunteers to contribute data
• Encourage organizations to contribute data and/or testers

Issue: Non-trivial task to initiate and maintain such a system.

WCAG 2.0 Test Sample

Attempt to collect accessibility support data using "test samples":

• Test file
• Test procedure
• Expected outcome

W3C/WAI Test Suites

Exploring use of W3C Conformance Test Framework for:

• Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.0
• User Agent Accessibility Guidelines (UAAG) 2.0
• Authoring Tool Accessibility Guidelines (ATAG) 2.0

Open Questions

Some of the open questions include:

• How to manage the scope?
• How much vetting needed?
• How much curation needed?
• How to handle conflicts?

Website Evaluation

Evaluation and testing throughout the development process is essential. However, there are also use-cases for post-development evaluation of websites:

• Initial assessment for re-design process
• Verify conformance claim made by supplier
• Final QA testing before product roll-out

Evaluation Methodology

Development of a website conformance evaluation methodology:

• Selection of representative samples
• Applying WCAG 2.0 to the sample
• Aggregating results and reporting

Note: Website includes web applications, mobile websites, ...

Methodology Design

Some design aspects of the evaluation methodology include:

• Flexible for different types of websites
