3Com Founders Chair

Tim Berners-lee is the first holder of the 3Com (Computer Communication Compatibility) chair at the laboratory for Computer Science at MIT.

The chair was established at MIT in April 1999 by the founders and friends of 3Com Corporation.

and by 3Com Corporation itself, Eric A Benhamou, Chairman and C.E.O.

The chair is the first at MIT which may be held by a member of the research staff rather than the faculty.
