- Location Enabled User Agent
The user agent itself knows its location, e.g. through the use of a GPS receiver. The location proxy server uses this information to forward location information to the location enabled service.
- Location Enabled Proxy Server
The location proxy server itself determines the location by interacting with network elements, e.g. a Mobile Position Centre (MPC), or a separate Position Determining Element (PDE).
- Location Enabled User Agent with Mapping Server
In this configuration, the user agent provides the location data, but in a format which is network dependent (e.g. radio measurements) or otherwise unsuitable for the location enabled service. The location proxy server interacts with a mapping server to translate the data into a useful format, which is then forwarded to the location enabled service.
