Location determination and communication in EuroSPIN
1) offer the user an interactive gazetteer process flexible enough to indicate locations on a fine grained or rough scale (distant location is most possibly not known in great detail), and translate this into a representation usable by the systemImplemented a hierarchical procedure (may be shielded from the user by the UI) to "drill down" to a certain level of detail2) Communication of locations between (web based) serversUses XML protocols between servers (gazetteer-, routing- and UI servers)Allows for co-ordinates and coding schemes - defined outside the project (IATA airport codes, OVR busstop codes (NL), Railtrack station IDs (UK), etc - all valid locations in the context of Public Transport )
