The Math Working Group Notes Page

This page contains links to each of the Notes that is under development by the MathML working Group. Please report all comments or corrections to The W3C Math Mailing List.

Note this list includes documents that may be under active development. The status of a particular document is described explicitly in its preamble at the time of its publication. Other documents may supersede any document listed here, but there will normally be pointers in a given version to the current version and earlier versions. The latest document of a series is maintained at the W3C.

Due to the nature of the content, these working documents have been prepared and validated as XHTML+MathML+SVG documents. Older browsers may have difficulty rendering some of the mathematics.

Bound Variables in MathML

Authors:
Michael Kohlhase, Carnegie Mellon University
Stan Devitt, StratumTek

This note gives a self-contained explanation of bound variables in Content MathML. It contains non-normative interpretations of the MathML 2 Recommendation (2nd Edition) and guidelines for representing mathematical objects in Content MathML. Please direct comments and report errors in this document to www-math@w3.org.

Guidelines for Graphics in MathML 2

Authors:
Michael Kohlhase, Carnegie Mellon University
David Carlisle, NAG

This document discusses the deployment of graphics for mathematics in conjunction with the MathML 2.0 Recommendation (2nd Edition). Examples are given of the sophisticated graphics sometimes called for in mathematical exposition, and of some strategies that may be used to mark them so as to display from documents using MathML for the mathematical markup. This an early draft for the MathML Working Group. Please report comments and errors in this document to www-math@w3.org.

Structured Types in MathML 2.0

Authors:
Stan Devitt, Stratum Technical Services Ltd.
Michael Kohlhase, Carnegie Mellon University

This note is a self-contained discussion of mathematical types in Content MathML. It contains non-normative interpretations of the MathML 2 Recommendation (2nd Edition) and provides guidelines for the handling of advanced mathematical types using Content MathML. Please direct comments and report errors in this document to www-math@w3.org.

Units in MathML

Authors:
Douglas Wilhelm Harder , University of Waterloo
