Namespace support

  • Use a variety of namespace prefixes, including a default namespace.
    •
    Common attributes

    Ensure that all xforms elements allow foreign attributes. The XForms Processor must ignore any foreign-namespaced attributes that are unrecognized, and must process unrecognized foreign-namespaced elements according to The XForms MustUnderstand Module rules.

  • Put a foreign attribute on every XForms element.

    Single node binding attributes

    ensure that bind takes precedence over ref and model attributes.

  • specify both a bind and a ref and ensure that bind is used.
  • specify both a bind and a model and ensure that bind is used.
  • ensure that either a bind or a ref are supplied.
    •
    Binding attribute

    ensure that model attribute refers to a model element and that a bind attribute refers to a bind element.

  • If model attribute does not refer to a model element ensure that an xforms-binding-exception is dispatched.
  • If bind attribute does not refer to a bind element ensure that an xforms-binding-exception is dispatched.

    First node rule

    When a single node binding attribute selects a nodeset of size of > 1, the first node in the nodeset is used.

  • Specify a single node binding attribute that will select more > 1 nodes and check that the first is used.

    Nodeset binding attributes

    ensure that bind takes precedence over nodeset and model attributes.

  • specify both a bind and a nodeset and ensure that bind is used.
  • specify both a bind and a model and ensure that bind is used.
  • ensure that either a bind or a nodeset are supplied.

    Model element

    ensure that model element allows XML Event attributes.

  • specify a model with XML Events attributes and ensure that they are processed appropriately. e.g. <model ev:event="xforms-recalculate" ev:propogate"stop" />

    Model element - xpath functions

    ensure that additional XPath functions can be specified with the functions attribute.

  • specify a model with a function attribute to specify additional XPath functions. If they are not found dispatch a xforms-compute-exception.

    instance element - schema

    The XForms Processor must process all Schemas listed on this attribute. Within each XForms Model, there is a limit of one Schema per namespace declaration, including inline and linked Schemas.

  • ensure that the restriction of one Schema per namespace declaration is enforced.

    instance element

    Ensure that the instance element is optional. Ensure that an instance can be inline or a reference to an external instance.

  • Create an XForm without an instance element.
  • Create an XForm with a link to an external instance that cannot be found and ensure that a xforms-link-exception event is dispatched.
  • Create an XForm with both an internal instance and an external reference and ensure that the linked version is used.

    bind element

    Ensure that the instance element is optional. Ensure that an instance can be inline or a reference to an external instance.

  • Create an XForm without an instance element.
    •
    mustunderstand attribute

    Ensure that an XForms processor that encounters an attribute defined as mustUnderstand that is not recognised dispatches an !!!*** as yet undefined ***!!! error. SPEC CHANGE required.

  • Create an XForm with one or more foreign namespaced elements that are marked as mustUnderstand but which the processor will not recognize and that it dispatches the appropriate error event.

    Ensure that extension elements can be specified but that they are optional.

  • Create an XForm with an extension element with namespaced content that the processor does not recognize and ensure that no errors are signalled.
