Four devices are shown: an autopc interface, a dynamic braille display, a palm pilot, and a mobile phone. Each displays the characters "XYZ" in a variety of ways. The autopc shows the chacacters as small white letters on a small black background as well as displaying them aurally. The braille display presents XYZ in braille as well as speaking the characters. The palm pilot displays the characters as small and black on a small green screen. The mobile phone displays them as even smaller black characters on a smaller green green. The mobile phone can also present them aurally.
This graphic illustrates that separating content from presentation allows the content to be adapted to the desired presentation of the user based on user and device capabilities. This picture transforms gracefully since the information contained in the image is available in this description.
