Tests externalcontextitem-22, -23, and -24 seem to be essentially identical except for trivial variations (different source documents, some use a leading "./" in the path expression. Yet: externalcontextitem-22 expects success externalcontextitem-23 expects failure externalcontextitem-24 expects success (except that the comment in the test says it expects failure). Whether or not these tests fail with "context item undefined" depends essentially on the test driver, so it would be useful to have clarification as to whether (and under what circumstances) the test driver is expected to set up an initial context item. Also, the descriptions of these tests bear little relation to the content, e.g. incorrect references to the max() function.
My eagle eyes failed to spot the catalog differences, namely that tests -22 and -24 omit the "variable" attribute, or the new documentation which explains that this means the value should be supplied as the context item. Bug withdrawn.
