Dear Irene Hello - I'm a novice at this :-) I try to open my Home Page with Amaya for editing and I get the following message: Invalid Characters Try the File/Read as' Entry I confirm and then the page loads empty. What do I need to do to solve this problem? I want to edit my Home page. Sincerely Ben
Hello, There is something weird in the quotation marks used for the attributes of the elements <link> on lines 23 and 24. These errors are also reported by the markup validator at http://validator.w3.org/ You can use simple quotes or the same double quotes as for the attributes of the other elements for these two elements. Also they are not closed, add a trailing slash like: <link rel='icon' href='favicon.ico' type='image/x-icon' /> <link rel='shortcut icon' href='favicon.ico' type='image/x-icon' /> Thanks, Laurent
Dear Laurent Thank you for your reply. In order to view the HTML source with Amaya, I need to open first the Home page from my computer. The problem is that the Home page does not open. When I try to open it, It opens a window that states that there are Invalid Characters > Try the file/Read as' Entry I went to the file > read as UTF-8 but still it does not open the home page. What do I need to do to overcome this issue so I can open the page, get to the source and try to fix the elements on lines 23 & 24 as you specified? BTW - I used iWeb to compose my web site. Sincerely Ben
Hello, When you get the popup 'Invalid Character ...' you click on Confirm then you should be able to open the source by selecting the menu Views > Show source that split the windows Thanks, Laurent
