This machine is an information server used to serve documentation on the World-Wide Web to a global audience.

The services it provides to the world are: It runs on UPS power and on a safe power supply during UPS shutdown periods, and is used extensively by European & US clients.

It is physically located in the computer room (where the CRAY was).

The system consists of the following:

Monitoring of the WWW0 machine will be through the Coms Alarm Display. Therefore when a Red alarm appears, in the format: "WARN MPMON No Response from WWW0 type IPGW" first check the machine for a response and if there is none REBOOT.

2: Reboot Procedure

Normal Reboot Procedure

1/ if rebooting over the internet, telnet  www0  923 

2/login: operator ; passwd in the usual place

3/ type: cd /

4/ type: sudo shutdown -i6 -y -g1

5/ You have to type the operator passwd once more

When it hangs:

1/ Press Break
If the boot prompt ( ">" or "ok") does not appear, turn the power off, wait 10 seconds, and then turn the power on again.
2/ If the prompt is ">", type n

3/ Type "sync"

4/ Type "boot"

3: Power Off, Power On

Power Off

1/ if rebooting over the internet, telnet  www0  923 

2/ login: operator ; passwd in the usual place

3/ type: cd /

4/ type: sudo shutdown -i0 -y -g1

5/ You have to type the operator passwd once more

Then turn off the workstation in the following order:
1/ Monitor
2/ External Disk
3/ System unit

Power On

Turn on the workstation in the following order:
1/ External Disk
2/ System unit
3/ Monitor
Then, you should have the prompt "ok"
