Vlad: seems like top level media type is in good shape, proposed to be finalized on IETF list.

kuettel: Congrats on Edge with WOFF2!

Vlad: we need at least two different implementations passing all the tests to go final. If everyone is using the same codebase that actually might prevent us from moving spec status forward.

(Edge uses the reference)

kuettel: It's possible Safari has their own; we aren't sure.

What happens if we never get to the final state?

Vlad: not 100% clear
... We need final test suite as well, which is probably more pressing
... as brotli rolls out as a general purpose Accept-Encoding we could see gains if the file would up cached w/decompressed data stream (because it isn't brotli internally). Could benefit cache load time.

This seems to suggest we'd want to make brotli optional (The CompressedFontData stream MUST be compressed using the Brotli compression algorithm)
